From bottle design to bottle shots, Laurie and the Outshinery team have been closely working with this Vancouver brewery since 2012.

As nothing other than a big hi-five to their recent success, we wanted to shed some light on Steamwork's impressive second quarter of 2016. The Vancouver based brewery has been working with Outshinery’s founder, Laurie Millotte, since 2012, for the launch of their commercial bottled brew.

Laurie’s art direction focuses on celebrating what makes the brewery unique (location, history, steam brewed) but with a twist! She developed a unique fantasy world where everything is powered by steam in what is known the Steampunk-style. Each beer varietal has its own iconic steam powered machine.

Incredibly successful, the now iconic designs can be spotted across an entire range of bottles and cans at Canadian and European liquor stores, at local pubs and at their tasting room.

Flagship IPA: the latest Steamworks beer

The company made waves at the 2016 B.C. Beer Awards taking the 'Best in Show' with their IPA. Not only did they win the award the night before commercial release, but Head Brewmaster, Julia Hanlon, was the first female brewer to win the award! Talk about a big win for the late comers!

We caught up with Steamwork's Marketing Manager Justin to discuss their latest and widely successful Capture the Flagship campaign. The goal was to promote the highly anticipated release of the new Flagship IPA.

To this effect, Outshinery's images (bottle shots, poured glass, 6-pack, etc.) popped up at local train stations, in-store posters, local business a-frame signs and but also online on social media and a dedicated website.

The campaign required entrants to simply post an image of their Steamworks brew and hashtag #capturetheflagship on twitter or instagram. The final winner walked away with $1,500 in cash. Not a bad incentive to get your hop on!

“It’s like Christmas!!!”

The current Steamworks range now extends across a variety of eleven different beers.

This means that image quality and consistency, from bottle to six pack, are essential. This is why Steamworks has been using Outshinery's digital photography for each new release, enabling the team to focus what they do best: brewing beer with steam!

-PS Although the campaign has come to a close, Steamwork's Flagship can be purchased at Canadian liquor stores or select locations in Europe in six packs or the 8 pack tall can mashup.

That's a wrap 2016!
